Happy Spring!

While it's really been spring for about a month around here (my crocuses came and went weeks ago), the tulips at the entrance to my office building really came into their own earlier this week.

Yeah... I would bet he's gonna lose that toe nail. :-(

Over the weekend we were at a tournament with J-Mav's hockey team. Keeper Boy was in line for food on Saturday night (we catered in and had a party in one of the hotel meeting rooms), when one of J-Mav's teammates dropped his [very heavy, standard hotel] plate of food on Keeper Boy's very naked big toe. And no, I don't know why Keeper Boy wasn't wearing any shoes. He was in A LOT of pain on Saturday night, Sunday, and Monday. However, Tuesday it started feeling better... to the point where he did P.E. at school and participated in hockey practice that night. But while it may be FEELING better by the day, it's still LOOKING worse by the day...

One day last week, I decided to stack almost every silver bracelet I own on the same day. I had on a pink skirt and a white top. It worked, though it was pretty heavy...

Left to Right (or from elbow side to wrist side):
Silver ball bracelet, Stella and Dot
Turquoise bracelet, gift from Gma G
Silver ball bracelet with heart dangle, gift from Hubby
Grey "pearl" bracelet, Stella and Dot
Black and silver bracelet with K dangle, gift from Gma G

I actually took this photo on my phone almost two weeks ago, and just remembered that I took it. The crocuses (croci?) have come and gone...

Today it is March 15 and it is 80+ degrees outside. On the way to school this morning J-Mav said to me, "Mom, this is the springyest winter we've ever had." I think he just might be right.

"Hockey is where we live. Life is just a place where we spend time between games."

Sounds about right...

We saw this vehicle in the parking lot at the rink last night. J-Mav read it and said something like, "SHOOTING people since 2002?!? That would be a lot of people You can't DO that!!"

(I explained that in photography, "shooting" someone means taking his or her picture. He was very relieved.)

This morning I watched a large flock of geese completely stop traffic in both directions on a six-lane divided highway (eight if you include turn lanes), while it waddled across. Immediately upon arriving at the opposite curve, each goose took flight.

They couldn't have flown across the road to start with?

While we were on vacation, we received a letter in the mail from our Goddaughter, who was at camp. We've never received a letter from camp before since Keeper Boy and J-Mav only go for a week; however, this has got to be one of the best camp letters ever. It's a keeper for sure. :) Typing it just as we received it.

It's almost time to go to the fire circle.
There are people here that are anyoing.
I have a great time here at camp.
I've allso just took a shower.
XOXOXO, [Goddaughter]

It's snowing... our first snow of the year (well, unless you count the dusting we got last week that was gone an hour later). The forecast is for 1-2 inches, but if it keeps up at the pace it's going now, I think it'll be more. Schools are dismissing two hours early.

I'm hoping this snow is contained to the east coast as my sister-in-law, niece, and nephew are en route to Ohio right now from Hawaii. It's bad enough that she's flying alone with the kids and it takes HOURS and HOURS and HOURS to get there, with a layover in Texas. If she gets delayed, it could get ugly!

Have I mentioned that I hate snow?

Just watched the Phillies take the NLDS for the third time in three years. SWEEP! Now they wait for the Braves or the Giants... My Phanatic has been perched prominently on my desk at work since early last week (moved from his usual perch atop my bookshelf). He will continue to greet all who enter my office as the next series unfolds. :-)

On a combination reading comprehension/science assignment J-Mav brought home from school today. There were two paragraphs on how deer swallow pieces of leaves and branches whole, store them in a special part of their stomachs and then bring up the cud and chew it so their bodies can use it.

The next page had six multiple choice questions about the paragraphs and then a question to respond to.

Do you like deer? Why?
Yes because I like to eat them.

Grandpa was so proud.

J-Mav came into my bedroom this evening and told me had to come out to the living room to see what he did to "make the glass people more fun." (The glass people would be our nativity set that we put out at Christmas time.)

This is what I saw:

His comment was, "well, there was a space and my guy fits nicely."

Wonder what the G.I. Joe guy brought to the blessed event -- ammo?

J-Mav left a note for the Tooth Fairy last night...

Dear Tooth Fairy ~
My tooth fell out. I lost it.
Love, [J-Mav]

A man of few words, my son. I'm surprised he didn't add a third sentence: "Please leave dollars."
